First and Last Things
2024 - ongoing
Mixed media | Dye, ink, iron oxide pigments, mineral pigments
Inspired by the rings left by evaporating water stains, this body of work arises from an exploration of process-driven techniques and the interplay between formal symbolism and material texture. Formed by repeatedly pooling ink, these ambiguous shapes evoke both topographic formations and human anatomy.
The research delves into early humanity's shared experience of existence, seeking traces of that legacy in the present. Drawing on motifs from the Neolithic, Bronze Age, and modern periods, the visual language aims to recall significant moments in civilisation’s cultural evolution and collective epiphanies.
